pagekite: Debian CNAME Problem

2013-04-22, 17:00

I've installed the debian pagekite package, and have configure the 10_account.rc file with appropriate kitename and secret. I then renamed the 80_https.rc.sample to 80_httpd.rc. and restarted the service. I can resolve my server using the kite id I chose (name.pagekite.me).

I have tried to add my personal domain using the CNAME Wiki article directions, but am running into a problem. I have created a pagekite sub domain subdomain.name.pagekite.me, and then added a CNAME at my registrar for www.domain.com to subdomain.name.pagekite.me. I added the CNAME to my account at pagekite. I added something similar to the 80_httpd.rc file:

service_on=http:subdomain.name.pagekite.me:localhost:80:SECRET service_on=http:www.domain.com:localhost:80:SECRET

I restarted the service, but when I try to connect to www.domain.com, I get the pagekite Temporarily Unavailable page. When I look at my account at pagekite.net/home, I see my pagekite name.pagekite.me, and the visibility shows the IP with a green check box. The next line shows the CNAME www.domain.com, and the visibility shows the IP with a red circle with a line through it. The last line shows subdomain.name.pagekite.me with a visbility of "self".

Anyway, I have probably missed one step, but I cannot figure it out. Any ideas what I missed?

Thanks

    I figured it out myself. I replace SECRET with the @kitesecret variable, and all is working.
